Celtic are currently sitting top of the Premiership table after beating Rangers over the weekend.

Andy Gray has warned Rangers boss Steven Gerrard that his fans will not accept Celtic winning ten league titles in a row, but they will ‘put up with’ their Old Firm rivals potentially winning nine.
On Sunday, Neil Lennon’s side showcased their worth when they beat Rangers 2-0 in a comfortable fashion at Ibrox, with Odsonne Edouard and Jonny Hayes getting on the scoresheet.
Both Celtic and Rangers have won nine league title in a row in their history, but either of them are yet to get that historical ten, which is now around the corner for the Bhoys.
A lot still has to happen for Celtic to achieve that, but former Scotland striker Gray sent a clear message to Gerrard about stopping their neighbours from winning ten.
“Celtic were the first Scottish side to win nine titles in a row,” Gray told Bein Sports. “When Graeme [Souness] came in, he changed the whole dynamic of Scottish football himself and he changed everything about Glasgow Rangers. And we started out on this quest for nine-in-a-row – Rangers went onto win nine-in-a-row, but they failed to win the tenth.

“Celtic are at eight again. Even though Steven [Gerrard] is up there as a newbie if you like. He’ll be very, very, very aware that Rangers fans don’t want want to see Celtic win ten titles in a row.
“They’ll put up with nine if they get close this year. They can put up with that. But he definitely can’t let Celtic win next season. That’s a certainty. Preferably win this season and all Rangers fans will be happy. Celtic fans, of course, want nine and then they want the tenth to say ‘we done 10’. It would be an amazing achievement.”
There’s no doubt that Gerrard will be disappointed with his team’s performance over the weekend because Celtic have laid down an early marker for the season ahead.
The next meeting between Celtic and Rangers will take place before the turn of the year at Parkhead, as another defeat in this fixture for the Gers will be really damaging.
