Arsenal drew the North London derby on Sunday.
Gary Lineker has criticised Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka on Twitter for giving away a penalty in the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Tottenham striker has also praised Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the goal he scored in the Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.
Xhaka, who was the Gunners’ captain for the North London derby, brought down Son Heung-min inside the home team’s penalty box in the 40th minute, and Spurs striker Harry Kane did not make any mistake from the spot.
Unai Emery’s side went down 2-0 down at the stage, but they halved the deficit through Alexandre Lacazette in first-half injury time.
Aubameyang scored the equaliser for Arsenal in the 71st minute from just yards out after Matteo Guendouzi found him with a brilliant ball.
The 30-year-old Gabon international striker has scored three goals in four Premier League appearances for Arsenal so far this season, according to WhoScored.
While Lineker has criticised Xhaka for the penalty, he has praised his Arsenal teammate Aubameyang for his goal.
Horrendously stupid challenge from Xhaka and Harry does what Harry does and buries it from the spot.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) September 1, 2019
That’s how you score goals. Gamble on where the ball will go and attack that space, rather than wait to see where the ball will go. Most of the time it won’t go where you run to, but when it does…. it’s a tap-in. Aubameyang does it beautifully.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) September 1, 2019
