Rangers were beaten 2-0 by Celtic at Ibrox this afternoon.

Rangers failed to show that they can challenge for the Scottish Premiership title today as they lost 2-0 at home to rivals Celtic.

After a strong pre-season and some early season promise, Rangers fans were looking for a strong result today to prove they can really challenge Celtic this season.

However, Celtic were the better side throughout and went 1-0 up before half time as Odsonne Edouard coolly slotted past Allan McGregor for the opener.

Rangers attempted to haul themselves back into the game by introducing Sheyi Ojo, Jordan Jones and Morelos, but they ended up conceding again as Jonny Hayes added a second on the break.

Jones then picked up a straight red card late on to compound a dismal day at Ibrox, with few Rangers players receiving any sort of credit for their displays.

Too many players fell short of the mark, and one of those was midfielder Joe Aribo, who has impressed for Rangers since joining from Charlton Athletic this summer.

Aribo was bizarrely played as a winger by Gerrard in what was a terrible tactical error, but even when he moved back into midfield, he didn’t fare much better before being hooked for Jones.

Aribo wasn’t able to impact the game in the final third and was found guilty of backing out of challenges early on, which potentially handed Celtic an early initiative.

Some Rangers fans took to Twitter to blast Aribo, branding him ‘heartless’ and ‘the worst player on the park’, with others suggesting that he was a passenger and one fan even suggesting he already wouldn’t mind if Aribo didn’t play for Rangers again.
