Fans of the sitcom seek to pay respects to Workin’ Moms’ Stephen Bourne.
It’s always important to reflect upon the lives of those who make ours so much more enjoyable.
Every day we listen to music, watch TV, films and as a result, it’s easy to take their enriching value for granted. Nevertheless, we are provided with endless entertainment by those who work hard to bring it to us. These can take the form of directors, musicians, but there are an unbelievable amount of roles across these industries, with the efforts of hundreds and thousands of people striving to make what we consume so compelling.
Of course, it’s very sad to hear when one of these individuals passes away, but it’s also necessary to celebrate their work, as they’re arguably immortalised through it. You don’t have to be a central star or an influential figure – sometimes the talents who make the work happen are behind the camera… behind the scenes.
That’s why it’s important to spotlight Workin’ Moms’ Stephen Bourne.
Workin’ Moms: Stephen Bourne
Canadian sitcom Workin’ Moms arrived on CBS back in 2017 and earned an almost immediate fanbase for its hilarious but hearty exploration of mothers juggling the pressures of parenthood and careers.
Catherine Reitman, Jessalyn Wanlim, Dani Kind, Juno Rinaldi and more give great performances, but we’re here to talk about Stephen Bourne.
Season 3 episode four – ‘Training Day’ – was dedicated in his memory, leaving audiences with the words “in memory of Stephen Bourne” just before the credits roll. As expressed by Dani Kind (full tweet below) on Twitter back when it aired: “Tonight’s show was in memory of Stephen Bourne who was our sound mixer for several seasons. He was a stand up man who had deep integrity for his work. We miss you. xo”.
The season has arrived on Netflix, thus some people are hearing of the news late. It appears that Steve passed away at the age of 62 on Thursday, August 23rd 2018. Looking over his IMDb credits, he worked as part of the sound department on such projects as 2002’s Cypher, No Looking Back, The Last Supper, Closer To Home, Naturally, Sadie and more.

Stephen Bourne tribute on Twitter
Workin Moms’ star (she plays Kate Foster) and creator – Catherine – wrote on Twitter back on August 25th 2018: “We’ve lost a member of our Workin Moms family. Steven Bourne was an exceptional craftsman and a kind soul… Steven, thank you for protecting our words year after year. You are missed “.
The image which accompanies these words radiates happiness, as does the series he has helped craft.

Workin’ Moms season 4
For fans binging through the recent crop of episodes, you’ll be thrilled to know that more are on the way.
According to Wikipedia, the hit series was renewed for a fourth season on Wednesday, May 29th 2019. Although there is currently no specific news of a premiere date, it’s estimated to reach audiences in winter 2020, so there’s quite a while to wait.
The thirteenth and final episode of season 3 – ‘What’s It Gonna Be?’ – certainly left viewers aching for more, but it looks like we’ll have to be patient. Then again, judging from how much great content Netflix is bombarding us with lately, we’re in good hands until season 4 arrives.
