Derby County have failed to win their last four Championship games.

Derby County manager Phillip Cocu is likely to ring the changes again following his side’s 3-0 midweek defeat to East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.

The Rams made several changes for the fixture at the City Ground. Of those that started, only Lee Buchanan and George Evans are expected to retain their places with the squad already battling with injuries.

Brentford come into the game off the back of a 1-0 defeat at Charlton Athletic in the Championship. The Bees have only netted two league goals so far, yet Derby have also been goal-shy so don’t expect a thriller.

Here is how we predict Derby will line-up:

Possible Derby XI vs Brentford (A) 2019

Scott Malone is still struggling with fitness, therefore 18-year-old Buchanan is expected to retain his place at left-back with Max Lowe still covering for the injured Jayden Bogle on the opposite side.

Phillip Cocu has hinted that Krystian Bielik is still not at 100% fitness, and that it might be another month until he starts to play further up the field in a defensive midfield role.

Tom Huddlestone, George Evans and Kieran Dowell were the midfield trio for the opening win at Huddersfield Town. Against a flowing possession-based Brentford side, opting for the same again would make sense.

Derby have struggled to get Martyn Waghorn and Jack Marriott on the pitch together this season. But this could be the moment they finally click after their involvement against West Bromwich Albion last weekend.

The duo cost around a combined £10 million in the summer of 2018. They are both goal-scorers, and together they could be the answer to the Rams’ lack of threat in the final third so far this season.
