The Black Cats summer signing impressed for the Stadium of Light side as Jack Ross’ charges took a Premier League scalp en route to round three.

A number of Sunderland fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on George Dobson’s performance in the 3-1 win away at Burnley in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

The Black Cats came from behind at Turf Moor to seal a place in the third round of the competition and take a Premier League scalp along the way thanks to goals from Will Grigg, Tom Flanagan and Dobson.

Jay Rodriguez put the Clarets ahead on 11 minutes by slotting in from the edge of the box after Matej Vydra’s run and pass, but Grigg’s neat finish in the 35th minute levelled the scores come half time.

Shortly after the interval, Sunderland got their noses in front when Flanagan headed home and George Dobson side-footed a third on 50 minutes, building a two-goal lead that was not to be relinquished come full time.

Dobson’s first goal for the Stadium of Light side since joining in the summer from Walsall was just reward for his energetic display on the night in Lancashire and several Black Cats fans took to social media to praise the 21-year-old.

Up next for Sunderland is their League One trip to Peterborough United, while in the next of the Carabao Cup they face Premier League Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
