Tottenham’s Jack Clarke has had an underwhelming start to the season at Leeds.

Jack Clarke has begun the season for Leeds United in the same way he ended it, in underwhelming fashion.

The latter end of his 2018/19 season did not dissuade Tottenham Hotspur from spending on him in the summer, as much as £8.5 million.

It did see them decide to send Clarke back on loan to Leeds for a year, and so far it has been tough going for Clarke.

He has not featured in the Championship yet this season, and a cap on how many loan players can feature in a matchday squad has seen Clarke be the odd one out.

His game time has come in the Carabao Cup, but after Leeds were defeated on penalties by Stoke, this avenue is now over for him.

Tottenham fans have expressed their worry over Clarke on social media, with it being discussed whether the winger should be recalled.

Getting into Tottenham’s XI will be even harder, but Clarke could ask them to re-assign him to a different club.

This would be a mistake, Clarke needs to stick it out at Leeds and make the best of his situation.

What if he heads out elsewhere on loan, and cannot get into that team either?

His reputation and confidence will be even harder hit, and next season teams will be less forthcoming about taking him on.

Clarke needs to fight, and overcome the obstacles he faces at Leeds. He will be stronger for it.

Going to Spurs looking for answers would be the easy way out. Clarke has the talent to win Marcelo Bielsa over at  Leeds, he needs to back himself.
