The plight of Bolton Wanderers has been well advertised in recent months as the club has faced some of the most turbulent and troublesome times of its 140-year history.
Now however, Bolton may finally have the chance to turn over a new leaf thanks to the completed takeover by the Football Ventures consortium which officially took ownership of the club on August 28th, 2019 after several months of negotiation.
Football Ventures is being led by business supremo Sharon Brittan and the consortium have been eying up a move for Bolton since February 2019 but were forced to wait until the club was placed into administration to complete their takeover which is thought to have cost £10 million for the club and an extra £7 million for the adjoining Bolton Whites Hotel.
But just who is Sharon Brittan? Is she a good fit for Bolton Wanderers after the club have suffered so much under the tyrannical reign of previous owner Ken Anderson?
Who is Sharon Brittan?
Sharon Brittan is one of several business people involved in the Football Ventures consortium but we'll get onto them in a moment.
Brittan herself, meanwhile, has a long and storied career to date which has seen the 52-year-old take on directorial roles in 38 businesses over the past 25 years with six active director roles, including one in the Football Ventures consortium.
According to companycheck.co.uk, Sharon Brittan's net worth is supposedly £45.8 million.
What role will she have at Bolton Wanderers?
As well as holding one of the director's roles in the Football Ventures consortium, it is understood that as the leading figure in the bid, Sharon Brittan is slated to become the new chairperson of Bolton Wanderers, a role previously held by the departing Ken Anderson.
Bolton's former manager Phil Parkinson said the Sharon Brittan and Football Ventures would be a 'breath of fresh air' for the club and that they were just what Bolton Wanderers needed after months of uncertainty.
Who else is in the Football Ventures consortium?
Joining Sharon Brittan in the Football Ventures consortium are a number of businesspeople and one other surprise addition.
Property developer Michael James is among the venture's chief figures and has contributed significant funds into the purchase of the club and adjoining Bolton Whites Hotel.
Businessman Jeffrey Thomas no longer holds the role of director within the consortium but is understood to be involved in some fashion.
However, the biggest and most surprising name in Football Ventures' line up is Nick Mason, the drummer from legendary prog-rock band Pink Floyd.
Whether or not the Football Ventures consortium can offer the stability that Bolton Wanderers needs remains to be seen but fans of the club will no doubt be ecstatic that the threat of liquidation has been cast aside and the club is able to survive and, hopefully, thrive once again.
