Who will Celtic sign before the European transfer window slams shut on Monday?

Barry Ferguson has made it clear that he’s ‘not buying’ any of the talk that Neil Lennon is not picking and choosing who he buys in the transfer window.

The former midfielder has claimed that he’s ‘hearing’ that ‘some of the players’ Celtic have purchased this summer are ‘not his signings’ – Ferguson doesn’t think Lennon is the type of character to allow that to happen.

It has been an indifferent and slow transfer window for Celtic, whose supporters will no doubt be frustrated at what has been happening this summer.

Speaking to PLZ Soccer’s official YouTube account (28/08/2019), Ferguson shared his thoughts on Celtic’s recruitment policy, which has been criticised.

“It’s the manager that picks the team, so he’s got to pick the player [in the transfer market],” Ferguson told PLZ Soccer. ” Lenny’s the type of character, I’m sure he wouldn’t let somebody go out and dictate to him as to who’s coming in. I don’t know him really well, but I know what type of character he is. He strikes me as the type of guy that it’s his decision.

“I’m hearing from people that some of the players that Celtic have signed that are not his signings. I’m not buying that. I am sure Lenny is the type of guy to say, ‘right, I’ll have him and I’ll not have him’.

“That’s the way it has got to work. It falls on the manager. The manager takes the brunt of the criticism, whether they are not playing well or getting beat. It has to be down to the manager as to who he picks and chooses as to who he’s going to sign.”

There are still a few days left before the European transfer window slams shut, with Celtic recently securing the signature of Stoke City right-back Moritz Bauer on a season-long loan [BBC Sport]

Whilst Celtic add more cover in one fullback area, they could potentially add another name to their books at left-back.

The Daily Record claims that the Scottish Premiership champions are potentially looking at Gideon Mensah from Red Bull Salzburg.
