Leeds United fans are mocking the England international on Twitter.

Leeds United fans on Twitter are trolling Jack Butland.

The Stoke City goalkeeper contributed to Marcelo Bielsa’s side being knocked out of the League Cup at Elland Road last night.

It finished 2-2 in regulation and Butland was among the away players who scored during the 5-4 shootout win.

But his horrendous error midway through the second half led to Leeds striker Eddie Nketiah pulling a goal back for United, who were 2-0 behind at the break.

Butland was benched when the Whites beat Stoke 3-0 in the Championship last Saturday following a shaky start to the season.

Here’s how fans of the West Yorkshire club reacted to his post-match message on Twitter:

Butland, valued at £20 million during the summer [The Sun], has indeed been quite erratic for the Potters this season, but the combination of scoring a penalty and being on the winning team last night might result in a restoration of confidence and morale.

Leeds can’t afford to dwell on this, though. On Saturday, Bielsa’s side host Swansea City in a top-of-the-table Championship clash.
