Celtic and Arsenal could potentially be paired together in the Europa League, if the Hoops make it.

New Arsenal signing Kieran Tierney at London Colney on August 08, 2019 in St Albans, England.

Celtic fans were understandably devastated to lose Kieran Tierney this summer.

Yes, they received a tidy £25 million sum from Arsenal, but the young left-back was one of their own, a Lennoxtown product.

Many Celtic supporters will hope that he does well in North London and enjoy the career that his talent deserves, but there could be more heartache on the way for the Parkhead faithful.

As if losing their star player wasn’t sore enough, the Hoops fans might have to see him back at Paradise in the red and white of Arsenal before the year is out.

That is because Neil Lennon’s side are likely to be included in Pot 2 for the draw for the Europa League group stages and, according to The Scottish Sun, the Gunners, in Pot 1, are a possible opponent.

It must be noted that Celtic haven’t reached the group stage yet, but the Scots lead AIK 2-0 on aggregate ahead of Thursday’s second leg with AIK in Sweden and they’re strongly fancied to finish the job.

The positive aspect of potentially drawing Arsenal is that Tierney is out until October [Football Scotland] and therefore Celtic fans will be spared the hurt of seeing him against James Forrest twice, but if he’s available for the Parkhead fixture then that’ll surely sting.
