Sofiane Boufal was linked with a move away from Southampton, but provided a glimpse of his quality in the weekend win.

While Moussa Djenepo stole many of the headlines at the weekend after marking his Southampton debut with the stunning opening goal in the 2-0 victory over Brighton, it is fair to say that Sofiane Boufal also made an impact that left plenty of Saints supporters talking after the win.
Boufal came off the bench for the final 10 minutes at the Amex Stadium and proceeded to produce a brilliant cameo as Ralph Hasenhuttl's men notched up their first win of the campaign.
The 25-year-old's most important contribution came when he ran at the Brighton defenders before darting down to the line and cutting a perfect pass across the six-yard box for Nathan Redmond to double the visitors' lead.
While Hasenhuttl had already provided an indication of his plans for the Morocco international for this season by using him in pre-season and then bringing him off the bench at Burnley on the opening day, the Brighton win could well be prove to the game that Saints fans look back upon as the turning point at Boufal's career at St Mary's.

Boufal only showed glimpses of his quality during his first two seasons in the Premier League - his stunning solo goal against West Brom will live long in the memory - and it is probably fair to say that fans did not have too many complaints when he was loaned out last term.
Unsurprisingly, there had been speculation surrounding Boufal this summer with the Daily Echo reporting earlier this month that there had been links with another move during this window.

But Hasenhuttl appears to be getting something out of Boufal that Claude Puel, Mauricio Pellegrino and Mark Hughes all failed to unlock. He still has a lot to prove to show that he is ready to be the game-changer that Southampton want him to be.
But there is no question that he has made a fantastic start to life under Hasenhuttl, and his exciting cameo at the weekend just hinted that he may be ready to be the club's biggest revelation this season.
