Scottish Premiership champions Celtic are still reportedly hoping to sign Greg Taylor from Kilmarnock as Neil Lennon looks to replace Kieran Tierney.

Celtic’s chief scout Nicky Hammond compiled a ‘glowing’ review on Kilmarnock left-back Greg Taylor after a personal scouting mission, as reported by the Daily Record.

With just a few days of the transfer window remaining, the Hoops are running out of time as they look to bring a new left-back to Parkhead to fill the void created by Kieran Tierney’s £25 million move south of the border with Arsenal.

Taylor, a player who started his career at Old Firm rivals Rangers, has played his way onto the radar with a series of dynamic performances down the flanks for Kilmarnock.

Hammond, who replaced Lee Congerton as Celtic’s recruitment chief in the summer, has watched the 21-year-old in action and was very impressed by what he saw. Taylor was given a ‘glowing’ review by the former West Brom director, according to The Record.

That doesn’t mean that the Scotland international will be wearing green and white by the end of the month, however. Young, hungry and technically gifted, Taylor looks absolutely, ahem, ‘Taylor made’ for Celtic but Kilmarnock’s £3 million price-tag threatens to scupper a deal.

Celtic are willing to pay just £1 million, albeit with Jack Hendry potentially offered to the Rugby Park club in exchange.

But a replacement for Tierney is an absolute necessity and, with £25 million in their back pocket, Celtic will be kicking themselves if they cannot get the deal done.
