Jonjoe Kenny's first home start for Schalke resulted in a 3-0 defeat to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Jonjoe Kenny has admitted that he needs to learn after the Everton loanee gave away a penalty on his Schalke home debut against a Robert Lewandowski-inspired Bayern Munich, while speaking on Twitter after the game.
After moving to Gelsenkirchen on a one-year deal from Everton, the Goodison Park academy graduate would have been hoping of a dream start to life in the Bundesliga when perennial champions Bayern arrived at the Veltins Arena.
That dream quickly became a nightmare. The 22-year-old looked every inch a young player with plenty to learn as he was lured into an ill-timed lunge on Bayern’s tricky winger Kinsley Coman in the penalty area.
Lewandowski fired home the resulting spot-kick in typically assured fashion, the first of a clinical hat-trick which gave Bayern a comfortable 3-0 win.
“Have to learn from this. Can’t be diving in in those situations.”

“I need to learn. You can’t be diving in in these situations. But I think after the penalty I still dealt with it well, I didn’t let it get to me. I felt strong and happy. It’s just part and parcel in football,” Kenny said after the game.
“Coman is a top player and I want to be playing against top players.”

The Scouse native certainly responded well from his game-changing error, shackling Coman well for the rest of the game and showing a mental fortitude that will stand him in good stead under new coach David Wagner.
Schalke, like Everton, are a so-called ‘people’s club’ located in the heart of an industrial, working-class haven. So Kenny should feel right at home as the season goes on.
