Tony Cascarino has praised Jota for causing Everton 'no end of problems' during Aston Villa's 2-0 win against Maco Silva's side on Friday night.
The former Millwall striker was critical of a number of Everton players for their performance at Villa Park, including midfielder Andre Gomes.
It was a lacklustre performance from the Merseyside club, who went into the game with four points from two matches and two clean sheets to their name.
Speaking on The Weekend Sports Breakfast on TalkSport (24/08/2019 at 6:10 am), Cascarino shared his thoughts on the performances of a number of players during Villa's win against Everton.
"Everton never really hurt Villa enough in the first 45 minutes. They had a great chance with Calvert-Lewin. He's a young lad. Been thrown into the deep end and the pressure is on. But the pressure has to be there because you are playing number nine for Everton.
"I thought midfield they were terrible. Andre Gomes was as poor as I have seen him. And Schneiderlin."
Both Jota and Wesley combined for Villa's opening goal, with Jack Grealish's quick free-kick resulting in Jota playing a delightful through ball for Wesley, who slotted home for his first goal for the club.
Villa made sure of the points late on through substitute Anwar El Ghazi, as Everton's very own substitute, Theo Walcott missed the best opportunity of the match when he failed to hit the target from five yards out.
