Sanditon continues on ITV but who plays the show’s leading character, Charlotte Heywood?
ITV’s penchant for creating fascinating and gripping drama continues with their new series Sanditon that made its debut on the channel on Sunday, August 18th and is set to continue once again on August 25th.
The series features an incredible cast that sees some of the biggest actors in British TV come together for this stunning period drama.
However, in taking on the lead role of the young and naive Charlotte Heywood is a relative newcomer to the industry but one that you would be well-served to keep an eye on in future.
What is Sanditon about?
Sanditon is a TV adaptation of Jane Austen’s final and unfinished work before the great writer died in 1817.
It tells the story of a young Sussex girl, Charlotte Heywood, as she is forced to start a new life in the seaside town of Sanditon.
The series follows her exploits as she aims to make a name for herself but she is quickly set upon by a number of potential suitors looking to make a wife out of the town’s new arrival.
Who plays Charlotte Heywood and who’s in the cast?
The aforementioned Charlotte Heywood is played by 25-year-old actress Rose Williams.
Joining Williams as more experienced members of the cast include Kris Marshall (Death in Paradise, Love Actually, My Family), Anne Ried (Doctor Who, Years & Years and Hot Fuzz), Adrian Scarborough (Gavin & Stacey and The King’s Speech) as well as Theo James (The Divergent series).
The impressive cast will surely be a huge draw for the series and a full cast list can be found at IMDb.
What else has Rose Williams been in?
Williams’ role in Sanditon is her 11th acting credit, with the actress boasting 12 in all since her career began steadily back in 2014.
She earned her big break in the BBC medical soap Casualty before going on to appear in the TV series Reign, Medici and Curfew.
However, her biggest role to date came in the feature film Changeland where she appeared alongside the film’s writer and director Seth Green as well as Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin and wrestler Randy Orton.
Once Sanditon has come to an end, fans of the actress can expect to see her again in The Power which is currently filming at the time of writing.
Meanwhile, Sanditon continues on ITV on Sunday, August 25th at 9pm.
