The Villans summer signing from Birmingham put in a sensational display for Dean Smith’s side at Villa Park.

It was a superb day (night) at the office for Aston Villa on Friday as they put in a great performance to finally pick up their first Premier League win since their return to the top flight, running out 2-0 winners over Everton at Villa Park.

Villa fans enjoyed the ideal start to the Bank Holiday weekend as Wesley Moraes got things under way by breaking the deadlock in the 21st minute, latching on to Jota’s superb incisive pass to rifle past Jordan Pickford.

Although Everton had several chances to get back on level terms, they did not take them and Anwar El Ghazi then struck deep into injury time to seal the points for Villa after being teed up by John McGinn.

The Villa fanbase was delighted with virtually all of their players for putting in great performances, but the Man of the Match (BBC Sport) was Jota, given his first start for the club, and such was his performance that he was given a standing ovation after he was replaced.

Here are just some of the comments on social media about the £4million summer signing (Transfermarkt) from Birmingham City after his display at Villa Park:

Up next for Aston Villa is their Carabao Cup game away at Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night before heading to Selhurst Park at the weekend to take on Crystal Palace.
