A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the news that Richard Kitzbichler has been appointed as Ralph Hasenhuttl's new assistant first-team coach.

As confirmed by the Saints official website, the Austrian joins the coaching staff, in which he will also work as opposition analyst, the move coming about following the departure of Danny Rohl this summer.

Kitzbichler links up with Southampton following two years with Chinese Super League side Beijing Sinobo Guoan and an eight-year spell in his homeland with Red Bull Salzburg, first as analyst after seeing out his playing career there, and then as assistant coach to Oscar Garcia.

He joins a Saints backroom staff setup featuring first team coaches Dave Watson, Craig Fleming and Kelvin Davis, and goalkeeping coach Andrew Sparkes, as well as head of sports science Alek Gross and head of first team analysis Scott Waters.
