League One Sunderland reporteldy want to sign Herbie Kane on loan from Premier League runners-up Liverpool after his spell at Doncaster Rovers.

In his 2016 autobiography, Steven Gerrard tipped two little-known Liverpool youngsters for stardom.
One was Trent Alexander-Arnold; the 20-year-old who is already a Champions League winner, an England international who last season produced more assists (12) than any other full-back in a single Premier League campaign.
The other is yet to make his Liverpool debut and spent last season on loan at Doncaster Rovers. Though there’s no reason to believe that Herbie Kane can’t follow in Alexander-Arnold’s footsteps and establish himself as a regular in Jurgen Klopp’s first-team.
“These boys (Alexander-Arnold and Kane) really caught my eye,” wrote Gerrard in My Story (2016), arguably the most influential captain in Liverpool’s history.
While a paucity of options at right-back opened up the door for Alexander-Arnold to establish himself at his boyhood club, the path to the starting XI looks far longer for Kane.

The dynamic midfielder shone on loan at Doncaster last season, scoring seven times to earn a place in the League One Team of the Season. According to The News, Sunderland are one of the clubs interested in bringing Kane back to the third tier before the transfer window shuts at the end of August.
If Gerrard is right, The Black Cats could have one of the most exciting young midfielders anywhere in Britain in their ranks, albeit for 12 short months.
