Thomas Frank sends message about Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds

Leeds United enhanced their promotion credentials on Wednesday night.

Marcelo Bielsa manager of Leeds United arrives prior to the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Brentford at Elland Road on August 21, 2019 in Leeds, England.

It's early days, but Leeds United are showing why they were pre-season favourites to win promotion to the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa's side eeked out an ugly 1-0 win over Brentford on Wednesday to make it 10 points from a possible 12 in the Championship this season, staying top of the table.

Eddie Nketiah, on his home debut for Leeds following a deadline-day loan move from Arsenal, scored an 81st-minute winner for the hosts.

The high-energy pressing tactic that Bielsa implemented at United last season is evident again this season, and Bees boss Thomas Frank knows just how difficult it is to combat.

According to BBC Sport, Bielsa's side had a massive 70 percent of possession and Frank has sent something of a warning to the rest of the Championship about the Elland Road club.

He said to Leeds Live: "Under Bielsa it's very tough here. Their press is intense and a different way of doing it. Man marking which is not usual.

"Prepare to play a team who do things very differently to the rest of the league."

It's worth pointing out that Leeds also had 10 points from their first four league outings last term, and wound up finishing third and missing out on promotion.

Neither the fans nor players will be getting carried away by this start, but things look promising nonetheless and a win at Stoke City this weekend would add to the feel-good factor for now.
