The Southampton midfielder is reportedly close to joining Monaco.

According to a report from French media outlet RMC Sport, Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina is closing in on a loan switch to AS Monaco, and some Saints fans took to Twitter in reaction to the news.

Lemina, 25, joined Southampton from Juventus in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth £18.1 million, according to BBC Sport, but he has failed to live up to expectations at St Mary’s.

The 15-capped Gabon international has racked up just two goals and two assists in 52 appearances for the Saints, and that is quite clearly not good enough.

And it seems as though his time on the south coast is now coming to an end.

RMC Sport claims that Lemina has already agreed terms with Monaco, and he will move to the Principality on an initial loan deal, with an obligation for the French side to buy the midfielder next summer.

And some Southampton fans seem to be delighted with the fact that the Gabonese flop is reportedly close to leaving St Mary’s…
