How many goals will Patrick Bamford score foe Leeds United this season?

Andy Reid has claimed that the ‘cool’ Patrick Bamford will help Leeds earn promotion this season as he backed him to score 20+ goals.

Former midfielder Reid played alongside Bamford where they were at Nottingham Forest, with the striker eventually moving to Chelsea.

Over the past few years, Bamford, who signed for a fee which could rise to £10 million [BBC Sport], has played for a number of clubs in England’s second-tier, most recently Middlesbrough.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live (21/08/2019 at 7:10 pm), ex-Forest man Reid backed Bamford to fire Leeds to promotion.

“I played with Bamford when he was a young kid at Forest before he went to Chelsea,” Reid told BBC Radio 5 Live. “He’s a smashing player and I really think this is going to be the season.

“I fancy for him to get 20+ goals this season. In that team, they create chances, he’s a clam, cool and collective lad. I think he’ll keep his wits about him. If they can keep him fit and he gets 20+ goals, I think they will go up.”

At this moment in time, Leeds are sitting top of the Championship table, the attackers are scoring goals and the defenders are ensuring they keep the ball out of the back of their own net.

It is all positive, but Leeds supporters will be well aware that their big test will come towards the end of the season when the heat in the kitchen is turned up.

For periods last season, Bamford was on the sidelines with an injury. If he can stay out of the treatment room then Leeds’ chances of earning promotion will increase massively.
