Square Enix has released a Dragon Quest XI S demo on the Nintendo Switch so fans can immediately sample its new elements.

Square Enix showed off more than 30-minutes of gameplay for Dragon Quest XI: Echoes Of An Elusive Age S on the Nintendo Switch at Gamescom 2019, and they have also released a demo for the definitive edition on the console’s e-shop. For diehard fans who are counting down the seconds until its release, the demo is a fantastic way to receive a sampling thanks to how long it is and the fact your progress carries over.

Next to Persona 5, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes Of An Elusive Age is the best JRPG to have been released this decade thanks to its innovation coupled with its embracement of its roots. Unlike the horrendously bad Final Fantasy XV, it isn’t ashamed of being a series affiliated with turn-based combat and Japanese Role-Playing aesthetics.

And, for the Nintendo Switch loyalists who are still crying about Atlus not giving them Persona 5 Royal, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes Of An Elusive Age S is a must-buy experience once you’ve finished Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

What are the new elements in Dragon Quest XI: Echoes Of An Elusive Age S?

For PS4 gamers who have already played Dragon Quest XI: Echoes Of An Elusive Age but also own a Nintendo Switch, there’s a bunch of new features Square Enix has introduced to make the Definite Edition worthy of your time.

And, for Nintendo Switch loyalists, you just need to buy it anyways if you’re a fan of video games with thrilling narratives, charming characters, gorgeous visuals, and a plethora of in-depth features.

Similar to the Nintendo 3DS release, the Definitive Edition of Dragon Quest XI will boast an optional 2D mode for those who want to experience a rush of pure nostalgia.

This will be accompanied by fully orchestrated field and battle music, a fast-forward option to speed up easy battles, and Japanese and English voiceovers that can be switched between at any time on the fly.

For those who somehow didn’t like marrying [name redacted for spoilers], you’ll also be to marry whichever lass you want.

Other new features include unique monsters and appearance changing outfits, but the most notable extras are a collection of short stories that flesh-out your party members even more.
