Marcelo Bielsa has backed Patrick Bamford to become the Championship's top-scorer this season, something a Leeds player hadn't done since the Chris Wood days of 2017.
Chelsea youth product Bamford has started off the new campaign in a strong fashion with three goals to his name, this despite Leeds losing Kemar Roofe from their front line, and with it, some extra pressure being put on Bamford's shoulders before a ball was kicked.
But he has started off in a strong fashion and if he can continue that form for large parts of this season then it'll bode well for Leeds chances of earning promotion to England's top-flight.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference for Wednesday's nights clash against Brentford [LS11's official YouTube account], Bielsa claimed that Bamford has 'the skills' to be top-scorer.
"In football, thinking about what is going to happen is so difficult," Bielsa told his press conference. "But he [Bamford] has the skills to be scoring in this way."
Bamford joined Leeds in 2018 for a fee in the region of £10 million [BBC Sport], and it is fair to say that he endured an indifferent campaign last term.
Whilst he put the ball into the back of the net when called upon, his antics during that 1-1 draw with Aston Villa didn't go down well with supporters.
