On their way to the Champions League final last season, Tottenham Hotspur knocked Manchester City out of the competition.

Mauricio Pochettino has brushed off comparisons between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City as he stated that his team are 'always the contender'.
In recent seasons, Spurs haven't been that busy in the transfer window compared to their top-four rivals, but still, Pochettino has been able to deliver Champions League football.
In the meantime, Pep Guardiola's City have been big spenders and last season it resulted in them winning the domestic treble.
Speaking to Sky Sports PL (17/08/2019), Pochettino made it clear to former Spurs midfielder Redknapp that the North London club simply cannot compete with the champions.
“I think we are in a different process to Manchester City,” Pochettino told Sky Sports PL. “We can't compare. I think people try to compare us with Manchester City.
“Manchester City during these last three seasons has been building a team to win trophies and they are winning trophies. In the last two seasons, they won the Premier League. And for us, we are always the contender.
“We are building the team every single season or every single six months. I think that is the difference people struggle to realise. We arrive with our circumstances. We can't maybe fight face-to-face with them.”

Tottenham moved into their new stadium towards the back end of last season and that will help them be more comfortable this term.
Last season, they were playing at Wembley for most of the time, as there were constant delays moving into their new surroundings, but all of that is now behind them.
Added with that, over the course of the summer, they have brought in new faces into their squad, and so far they have four points from their first two matches.
