Tottenham were known to be admirers of Dybala, but failed to get a move over the line on deadline day.
The Mail have now claimed that Tottenham had a chance to get hold of the Argentine sooner, but they were unprepared to offer Eriksen in exchange.
If Pochettino did make that decision it seems like a strange one, as Tottenham could risk losing Eriksen on a free transfer, with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.
But most Spurs fans think that the latest transfer report is completely fanciful.
This doesn’t make sense. Poch would have known Eriksen fancies going abroad, and we were trying to sign Dybala regardless?— Yidvids (@YidVids) August 20, 2019

Not a chance this is true.— Goy Division (@Lift_Angry_) August 20, 2019
If that’s true poch has lost it! I’m baffled but some stuff that he does! In for another strange season then haha— Nick Homewood (@Nickyh_yiddo) August 20, 2019
Jesus poor decision by Poch if true— Tron (@TronTromatic) August 20, 2019
If this is true I’m gonna be very upset. Why wouldn’t you swap these two elite players when Dybala genuinely wants to be a Spur and Eriksen doesn’t anymore— MSU/Detroit Sports Daily (@daily_msu) August 20, 2019
If this is true, poch has made the biggest blunder of his career.— Shreyas Rao (@Spurs_Shreyas) August 20, 2019
Eriksen’s future at Tottenham is still fairly uncertain, with just over a week left of the European transfer window.
Eriksen has featured in both of Spurs’s Premier League matches to date this season, but he could still depart before the end of the month.
Tottenham are unlikely to be happy to lose Eriksen on a free transfer next summer, which means that if a significant offer comes in for him, he could be sold.
