If you can pull this one off then we wholeheartedly salute you.
How many have you managed to perfect?
Over the last few years, we've seen so many viral challenges make the rounds on social media. Perhaps the best recent example was the Bottle Cap Challenge, which saw many attempts to kick off a loosened bottle cap; even stars like Jason Statham joined in!
However, you could argue that the best ones are the dance challenges, and 2018 was certainly a good year for those. Some obvious highlights were inspired by music videos from Drake (#inmyfeelingschallenge), Ciara (#levelupchallenge) and popular K-pop outfit BTS (#idolchallenge).
Now, 2019 has seen the best one come along thanks to pop sensation Normani, and to be honest, it could be the most difficult yet...
Normani performs at the Osheaga Music and Art Festival at Parc Jean-Drapeau on August 04, 2019 in Montreal, Canada.
Normani Motivation Challenge
The pop star's latest single 'Motivation' has arrived sporting one of the wildest videos of the year.
It was directed by Dave Meyers - who has worked on videos for Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, Imagine Dragons - and Daniel Russell, and they've turned out some seriously terrific work here. However, it's the insane choreography from Normani and co which absolutely steals the show in this magical display of craft.
Taking us on a trip down memory lane, the artist dances her way through homage after homage, serving up nostalgic imagery from such memorable videos as Beyoncé's 'Crazy in Love', Jennifer Lopez's 'Im Real' and Britney Spears' '...Baby One More Time'.
It's Normani's truly imaginative dance moves which make this a surefire winner and has even spawned the #Normanichallenge. This refers to the dance move of bouncing a basketball with a slick spin, as shown below:
The best #Normanichallenge attempts on Twitter
The video has already racked up 16,804,275 views and counting since it dropped on Thursday, August 15th 2019.
Since then, many fans have taken to Twitter to post videos of themselves trying out the soon to become iconic dance move. It's certainly harder than it looks, and it never really looked easy to begin with! Even some of the less disastrous attempts must have taken ages to get right, but here are some of the best so far:
All hail Normani!
It turns out that Normani was a finalist on Dancing with the Stars, but with those moves, it's not exactly too surprising.
You may remember her as a former member of pop group Fifth Harmony, but in 2018, she broke away and delivered her first hit as a solo artist with Khalid called 'Love Lies'. It did really well and led to some feature spots on tracks from the likes of Quavo and Jessie Reyez. She later released some impressive tracks with Calvin Harris ('Waves') and Sam Smith ('Dancing with a Stranger').
'Motivation' is primed to be her biggest hit yet, and with a video like that, she's become a solo artist you'd be foolish to ignore. Expect big(ger) things to come very soon!
