Benkovic returned to Leicester City this summer after a loan spell at Celtic.

The former Celtic loan star Filip Benkovic has posted on Instagram after playing for Leicester City’s Under-23s on Monday.

Benkovic starred for Celtic last season but has since returned to Leicester, where he is reunited with the manager who brought him to Parkhead, Brendan Rodgers.

Speaking to Football Scotland last month, the Croatian revealed plans to discuss his future with Rodgers at the earliest possible opportunity.

And he later posted a heartfelt message to the Celtic supporters, which appeared to put paid to hopes of a potential return to Glasgow.

Why you'd be foolish to write Celtic off next season

Whether or not Benkovic’s recent lack of action will affect things remains to be seen – the 22-year-old has failed to feature in either of Leicester’s matchday squads this season – although it would appear that he is staying defiant.

He added the following message to his ‘story’ earlier:

Benkovic, for whom Leicester are reported to have paid £13 million, is one of two centre-backs who have left Celtic since the end of last season, alongside Dedryck Boyata.

The Bhoys have already filled one of those gaps with the former Toulouse player, Christopher Jullien, while Hatem Abd Elhamed can also play there, although they may wish to add to their options between now and early next month.
