Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic would be a good signing for Celtic in the summer transfer window.

According to The Sun, Asmir Begovic is desperate to leave Bournemouth in the summer transfer window, and Celtic should reignite their interest.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that the Bosnia and Herzegovina international goalkeeper has fallen down the pecking order at Premier League outfit Bournemouth and wants to leave the Cherries this month.

Injury to Scott Bain

Back in June 2019, The Daily Star reported of Celtic’s interest in the former Stoke City and Chelsea goalkeeper, and following the injury to Scott Bain, the Hoops should make a move for the 32-year-old.

While Celtic manager Lennon expects Bain to be back in training soon, as reported by BBC Sport, The Scottish Sun has claimed that the goalkeeper could be out for two weeks.

Whatever the extent of the injury suffered by the Scotland international, a move for Begovic would be a wise idea from Celtic to provide more competition in the goalkeeper department.

Begovic is a very good goalkeeper and has extensive experience, and not only will the 32-year-old push both Bain and Craig Gordon, but he could also go straight into manager Neil Lennon’s starting lineup.

Gordon is 36 years of age and is out of contract at the Hoops next summer, while Bain has made mistakes on a few occasions for the Glasgow giants.

Begovic would be an upgrade on both Gordon and Bain, and with the goalkeeper reportedly eyeing a move away from Bournemouth this summer, Celtic would be wise to make an offer.
