Should gamers expect a new Batman game by Warner Bros. Montreal to be revealed at Gamescom 2019?
Gamescom 2019 begins tomorrow and there's a lot of potentially exciting announcements for fans to anticipate. One of the most mouth-watering is the possibility of Capcom announcing Resident Evil 8 or Resident Evil 3 Nemesis Remake, but another reveal that would cause gamers to go equally nuts is Warner Bros. Montreal's new game.
We don't know what's happening with Batman in the gaming scene as leaked concept art recently showed that Warner Bros. scrapped an Arkham Knight sequel midway through early development.
Yet, while an Arkham Knight sequel starring Damian Wayne could've been fantastic, it's possible that Warner Bros. Montreal has something even better cooking in the oven. And Gamescom 2019 would no doubt be an ample time to reveal it.
What is Warner Bros. Montreal's new game?
The canned Arkham Knight sequel was said to be in development by Warner Bros. Montreal, and it would've put players in the unfamiliar shoes of Damian Wayne rather than Bruce.
You can see some of the leaked concept art below, and you'll probably agree that it varies from compelling to off-putting.
Concept art, reportedly from WB Games Montreal's canceled Arkham Knight sequel starring Damian Wayne as Batman, have surfaced online. The game was going to feature the Batbike, a female version of Black Mask, old Bruce Wayne & a Nemesis System.— Batman Arkham Videos (@ArkhamVideos) August 13, 2019

Playing as Damian Wayne would've been an exciting proposition, but facing off against the likes of Two-Face and Poison Ivy in a post-apocalyptic Gotham would've been repetitive and underwhelming.
And this is why it's probably a good thing that Warner Bros. scrapped the Arkham Knight sequel for Montreal's other supposed Batman game.
This is by no means irrefutably proven, but the strongest rumour suggests that Warner Bros. Montreal's next contribution to the Dark Knight's legacy will star the Court Of Owls.
Warner Bros. Montreal teased this all the way back in 2018, and its existence would be far better than an Arkham Knight sequel as the Court Of Owls are one of the best villains to not be featured in any live-action movie or video game.
Will Warner Bros. Montreal reveal their new game at Gamescom 2019?
A number of gamers believe it's possible that Warner Bros. Montreal will be present at the gaming event in Germany thanks to premature placeholders on Amazon.
While this would - of course - be fantastic thanks to Batman having been absent ever since 2015, it's not something gamers should expect.
Gamescom 2019 has already listed the majority of names that will be announcing and showing off content at the extravaganza, but Warner Bros. wasn't one of them.
It's still possible that their next game could make a brief appearance through a cryptic trailer, yet expecting nothing will always ensure you don't leave disappointed when empty-handed.
