Rangers manager Steven Gerrard
Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Greg Stewart against East Fife.
Stewart, who joined Rangers in the summer transfer window as a free agent, was in action for the Gers in their Scottish League Cup second-round tie against East Fife this afternoon.
As expected, Steven Gerrard’s side eased past the Scottish League One outfit at the Bayview Stadium.
There were a number of positive performances from the Rangers players, but 29-year-old Stewart struggled to make an impact.
Stewart had a quiet and frustrating game, often struggling to combine with his teammates in the final third and looking below the scintillating best of his form with Kilmarnock last season.
The former Birmingham City and Dundee man missed a good chance in the first half for Rangers, and there was no surprise when manager Steven Gerrard decided to take him off in the 59th minute.
Rangers fans were not impressed with Stewart and have criticised the 29-year-old Scotsman on Twitter.

This game is painful viewing.— Ian Ferguson (@TheIanFerg) August 18, 2019
Polster and Stewart aren't Rangers class.
I know it’s always the Rangers men that get the biggest criticism but really don’t think Greg Stewart is good enough to play for Rangers, and at the age he is, can’t see him getting any better— RabMc97 (@Rab_Mc97) August 18, 2019
Tempted to watch the re run of love island I’m that bored watching this. Halliday, polster and stewart are never good enough for rangers, awful footballers— Grant (@grant_mckay) August 18, 2019
Just wish Greg Stewart had left his Aberdeen form up North....— (@SpookPhantom) August 18, 2019
Greg Stewart is not rangers quality— Evan (@Evanboyd10) August 18, 2019
Gregg Stewart just doesn’t cut it to play with Rangers. Not seen one glimpse of talent from him in any of the games he’s played in so far.— Chris (@FilipppNS) August 18, 2019
Horrible conditions, but today was an opportunity for the likes of Stewart, Docherty, Polster, etc to give the gaffer something to think about. Not one of them took that chance.— Faceless (@FacelessRanger) August 18, 2019
Helander & Edmundson confirming CB to be a very strong position.
We need a LB urgently.
Greg Stewart isn't good enough for us unfortunately.— Ian Meechan (@meechan45) August 18, 2019
