Marcelo Bielsa comments on Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw

Adam Forshaw played well for Leeds United against Wigan Athletic.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has praised Adam Forshaw for his performance against Wigan Athletic, as quoted in Leeds Live.

Forshaw was in action for Leeds in their 2-0 victory over Wigan away from home in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

The 27-year-old played in a more advanced position in midfield and also hit the frame of the Wigan goal.

 

According to WhoScored, the midfielder took two shots, had a pass accuracy of 89.4%, made three clearances, took two shots and played two key passes.

Leeds head coach Bielsa was pleased with the performance of Forshaw, and he has also explained his position in midfield.

Bielsa told Leeds Live about Forshaw when asked about Forshaw playing in a more advanced position: “He’s a mixed midfielder. He’s a midfielder helping [Mateusz] Klich and Kalvin Phillips too. Of course, when he has to attack, he’s going to be close to the opponent’s goal.

“Last year, he played a lot of times as a positional midfielder. And now he is having continuity. He had a good pre-season. He put in a good performance.”

Important player

Forshaw is a very good midfielder with a lot of experience in the Championship, and the former Wigan Athletic and Middlesbrough man will be an important player for Leeds this season.

The 27-year-old made 20 starts and 11 substitute appearances in the Championship for Leeds last season, according to WhoScored.

Leeds are aiming to finish in the top two of the Championship this season.
