Leeds head coach Bielsa was pleased with the performance of Forshaw, and he has also explained his position in midfield.
Bielsa told Leeds Live about Forshaw when asked about Forshaw playing in a more advanced position: “He’s a mixed midfielder. He’s a midfielder helping [Mateusz] Klich and Kalvin Phillips too. Of course, when he has to attack, he’s going to be close to the opponent’s goal.
“Last year, he played a lot of times as a positional midfielder. And now he is having continuity. He had a good pre-season. He put in a good performance.”
Forshaw is a very good midfielder with a lot of experience in the Championship, and the former Wigan Athletic and Middlesbrough man will be an important player for Leeds this season.
The 27-year-old made 20 starts and 11 substitute appearances in the Championship for Leeds last season, according to WhoScored.
Leeds are aiming to finish in the top two of the Championship this season.
