Gini Wijnaldum came in for some criticism from Liverpool fans.

Adrian should be the villain of the piece for Liverpool, but the fans are criticising somebody else despite Saturday’s 2-1 win at Southampton.

Jurgen Klopp’s side eased to a simple victory on the South Coast, but one that was slightly marred by the Spanish goalkeeper’s horrendous error late on.

Adrian, a Bosman signing this month, tried to clear the ball but his effort was closed down by former Liverpool hitman Danny Ings, whom the ball ricocheted against.

It was a fairly poor mistake to make for such an experienced goalkeeper, especially considering the amount of time he had to punt the ball away, but Gini Wijnaldum has also incurred the wrath of some supporters.

The Dutch midfielder played the full 90 minutes but Reds fans weren’t entirely happy with him.

Wijnaldum, playing as a defensive midfielder, was a tad sloppy in possession and conceded the ball on quite a few occasions.

It wasn’t a vintage performance from the former Newcastle man – and here’s how Liverpool fans reacted to it.
