Villa suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of Bournemouth at Villa Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Dean Smith’s side headed into the game against the Cherries on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur away from home at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London.
The Villa Park faithful will have expected the team to win against the Cherries, but the home team suffered a 2-1 loss.
Joshua King put Bournemouth in the lead from the penalty spot after just two minutes, and Harry Wilson doubled the advantage on 12 minutes.
Villa halved the deficit through Douglas Luiz in the 71st minute, but the hosts failed to launch a comeback.
Former Villa striker Collymore was following the match, and he has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the defeat for the home side.
Collymore was also impressed with the performance of 23-year-old Bournemouth central midfielder Philip Billing despite suggestions that he should have been sent off.
I like Phillip Billing a lot. B'mouth like to play and the argument is that they're a soft touch away from home.— Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore) August 17, 2019
Hell get plenty of yellows and one or two reds but he sets the perfect tone in winning second ball, challenges and aggression.
Nice balance to what Cherries have.
Agreed, but he's not and he's massively bossed the challenges in midfield!— Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore) August 17, 2019
Personally I hope he gets sent off in the first 30 of the second half because he's given Bournemouth wgat Villa don't have.
Agreed.— Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore) August 17, 2019
And that can sweep through a team in minutes like widfire.
If Grealish and McGinn are to play in the same team, need mobility, aggression and spite alongside them.
Or we'll be too easy to play against. https://t.co/QUg8IQJCNV
