It wasn't a game for the former Aston Villa player on Friday night.
Going by Twitter reaction, Aston Villa were right to dump Tommy Elphick this summer.
The Villans released the 31-year-old defender earlier this summer, cutting ties with the former Bournemouth man who joined in 2016.
Aston Villa strengthened their central defensive options in a major way during the transfer window by signing no fewer than four new players for that position.
It's just as well that they didn't keep Elphick, who is being slammed on Twitter.
The Huddersfield Town new boy played 90 minutes in Friday's 2-1 home defeat by Fulham - and, going by fans' reaction, he had a bit of a stinker.
Here's how fans reacted to his performance.
Elphick is hilariously bad lol. He set Che up last season too lol— Paul Phillip Lum (@_PapaulskiBCFC_) August 16, 2019
There's no enjoyment to be had whilst Elphick gets picked.— Jake T Wightman (@JbirdWightman) August 16, 2019
Guessing that's meant to be elphick.— Matt Gill (@gilleeeyyyy) August 16, 2019
And he's abysmal. Worst CB in league comfortably. And he's probably been our marquee signing.
To be fair it was a good dummy run. He was between a rock and a hard place cos Elphick was no where to be seen— ☘️Jason HTAFC☘️ (@thefrenchpaddy) August 16, 2019
How does tommy Elphick play every game? Not surprised we got him on a free.— James Westerby (@jimmywesterby) August 16, 2019
Got to move Kongolo to centre half, elphick not good enough. If Bacuna starts next game he must have some sort of hold over Siewart, he's been awful every match!!! #htafc— Steve Broomhead (@stevebroomhead) August 16, 2019
Don’t get me started on elphick— Con (@ConnorJamesMoss) August 16, 2019
Elphick looks like us on a different page! Never thought after 3 league games I’d want a manager out, but I don’t see a way out— Craig Wright (@craigewright83) August 16, 2019
Elphick, who stands at 6'2 [official website], is a decent Championship player and he will almost certainly improve.
Although he didn't play a huge role in Aston Villa being promoted last season, he has previously come up with Bournemouth and sooner or later, his experience will be an asset for the Terriers.
Still, he's no miss to Aston Villa whatsoever, to the point where if he was still at the club, he probably wouldn't make a match-day squad all season.
Dean Smith has signed Kortney Hause, Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa and Bjorn Engels this summer.
