The Sky Sports pundit believes there could be issues at Tottenham Hotspur.
Whilst Nicholas didn't exactly explain why he thinks there are problems at Spurs, he may have been insinuating that the players with expiring contracts are unhappy with their current situations.
"I think there are issues at Tottenham, but it is not the manager's making. It's between the players and owners, but I see problems here for Tottenham."
Tottenham brought in three new faces this summer, as well as Jack Clarke, before loaning the youngster back to Leeds United.
There could still be some high profile exits, however, with Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld being heavily linked with moves abroad before the end of the month.
The Dane and the Belgian's contracts expire next summer.
Jan Vertonghen's deal with Spurs is also set to expire in around 11 months time, and having been left out against Aston Villa, his future seems far from certain.
All three players mentioned are still very important to Tottenham, and it is not outside the realm of possibility that they could all sign new deals with the north London outfit.
And only time will tell whether Nicholas's comments turn out to have any substance.
