Virgil Gomis will surely catch the eye of Championship outfit Nottingham Forest with more brilliant strikes for the Silkmen.
Anyone who has watched Nottingham Forest’s reserves on a regular basis over the last few years would have known exactly what to expect when Virgil Gomis bore down on goal during Macclesfield Town’s Carabao Cup clash against Blackpool.
The 20-year-old Frenchman has hit the net at a remarkable rate for Forest at youth level and, after joining the Silkmen on loan this summer, he’s starting to show what he can do against seasoned, experienced professionals too.
In only his second game for Macclesfield, Gomis thumped a searing shot into the top corner before the League Two outfit eventually saw off their North West opponents in a dramatic penalty shoot-out.
After failing to score a single goal during a disappointing spell with a doomed Notts County side earlier in 2019, this is exactly the start Gomis needed to life at Moss Rose.
And with Nottingham Forest coach Sabri Lamouchi showing a refreshing faith in youth since taking over at the City Ground, handing run-outs to Brennan Johnson and Arvin Appiah while including Jayden Richardson in the match-day squad, Gomis just needs another few goals like this to catch the eye of his parent club.
