The Rangers manager Steven Gerrard could be about to add another midfielder to his Ibrox ranks.

According to the Leicester Mercury (as well as several publications north of the border) Andy King was due to travel for talks with Rangers on Thursday.

King has been with Leicester since 2004, when he joined the club's academy from Chelsea, and has scored or made 85 goals in 375 games for the Foxes, with whom he won the Premier League title in 2016.

His involvement has decreased in recent campaigns, however, leading to loan spells at Swansea City and Derby County, where he was managed by Gerrard's former teammate, Frank Lampard.

But while King is clearly a good player, some Rangers fans are fearful of the impact his arrival could have on another Gers midfielder.

This is what they're saying on Twitter...

Greg Docherty excelled while on loan to Shrewsbury Town last season and had been expected to play a bigger role at Rangers this term.

But with Gerrard favouring a three-man central midfield so far, the boyhood Rangers fan could still get his chance if King does arrive at Ibrox.

Greg Docherty of Rangers is seen during the Pre-Season Friendly match between Rangers and Wigan Athletic at Ibrox Stadium on July 29, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The same is less likely to apply to another two Gers midfielders, Graham Dorrans and Jason Holt, however.
