Bunn and Calderwood are reunited again after two years at Aston Villa.
Mark Bunn has reunited with one of his former Aston Villa colleagues on a permanent basis after leaving Villa Park at the end of last season.
The pair worked together for two years at Aston Villa, where Bunn was among the playing squad and Calderwood was part of Steve Bruce's backroom team.
But their relationship stretches back far beyond that, with the 34-year-old having been managed by the Scot at Northampton Town early in his career.
Bunn played just 21 times in four seasons at Aston Villa, for whom he last appeared against Preston North End in October of last year - Calderwood's final game.
"I really am delighted to have been given the opportunity here," Bunn told the Cambridge Independent. "Colin, all the coaching staff and a great group of players have been extremely welcoming.
"I have known Colin a number of years now and it's been really enjoyable to come into the Club and get started with the keepers. When I received the call and heard there was an opportunity, I was straight in the car and eager to get into it.
"The experience over the first month has been really good, although it felt very different arriving for pre-season to coach instead of playing and not be running around with the lads."
The former Aston Villa Under-23 team forward, Harvey Knibbs, also made the move to Cambridge after leaving Villa Park this summer.
