Celtic boss Neil Lennon would be forgiven for wanting to sign a new goalkeeper before the transfer window closes.
If there was one positive for Celtic to take from their defeat from Cluj on Tuesday night, it is perhaps that Neil Lennon has been handed something of a wake-up call while the transfer window is still open.
The Hoops have time to react positively. And while any signings are unlikely to heal all of the wounds that have come from missing out on reaching the group-stages of the Champions League, they can ensure that something positive emerges from the dramatic loss.
One area of concern that Lennon would be brave to ignore is the goalkeeper situation at Parkhead. Scott Bain initially impressed after taking the number one spot from Craig Gordon, but his form has been criticised for some time, and it culminated with the goalkeeper making an error against Cluj.
It would be a smart move for Celtic to sign another goalkeeper before the window closes. And perhaps one of the players that Lennon should consider pursuing is Michel Vorm, who remains a free agent after leaving Tottenham earlier in the summer.
Vorm did not play often during his five years with Mauricio Pochettino's side - he left having made 47 appearances in all competitions, including just 13 in the Premier League - but it says a lot that he spent the majority of his time as understudy to one of the world's best goalkeepers in Hugo Lloris.
He had previously been an inspired signing for Swansea City as they established themselves in the top flight. And at 35 years of age, he still has the potential to be enjoy a few years at a very good level.
With various transfer windows closed, it is not going to be easy for Celtic to sign players during the next couple of weeks.
But bringing Vorm in would see the Hoops sign a very capable goalkeeper with Premier League and international experience, while also leaving Lennon with the majority of his remaining funds in tact to go out and strengthen other areas of the squad.
