Liverpool have added another European trophy to their cabinet after beating Chelsea on penalties in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday night.
The Reds won the Champions League back in June, setting up a Super Cup clash with the winners of the Europa League – who just happened to be Premier League rivals Chelsea.
With the Blues coming off the back of a 4-0 defeat at Manchester United, Liverpool were big favourites, but fell behind to an Olivier Giroud opener.
Sadio Mane equalised to send the game to extra time before putting Liverpool in front, only for Jorginho to equalise for Chelsea from the penalty spot – and Liverpool prevailed on penalties.
Tammy Abraham failed with the crucial kick, as his effort was saved by Adrian, sparking wild celebrations from Jurgen Klopp's side in Istanbul.
Abraham cut a dejected figure in what proved to be a disastrous night for the striker; not only did he fail from the spot, but his replacement in the Chelsea attack – Giroud – found the net.
The 21-year-old is fighting for first-team football after a superb season on loan at Aston Villa, but his spot kick failure has resulted in many suggesting he simply isn't good enough for the Blues.
Aston Villa fans are taking to Twitter to rally around Abraham though, having seen him thrive at Villa Park last season, with many backing him to bounce back.
Others have called on Abraham to 'come home' and re-join Villa in January, believing he would be much better off back with Dean Smith's side, where he is really appreciated.

I fear Tammy is going to disappear into obscurity if he stays at Chelsea. He should have come back to the claret and blue. #AVFC— Simon H (@smnhndmch) August 14, 2019
Devastated for Tammy Abraham, there, but it's justice as he went down easily for the pen in normal time.— Bairdy (@dickiebaird) August 14, 2019
Hard for a young lad to take that, though. Really want to see him bounce back. He's a top professional.
Come back to the Villa, pal.
Well done #LFC#avfc #supercupfinal
So much hate for Tammy atm. Would have him back at Villa Park in a heart beat. Come home sweet prince x pic.twitter.com/3UTuJJhjWC— Dean Smith’s Footballing Philosophy (@wenwei95) August 14, 2019
