A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the Carabao Cup second-round draw, which has handed them a trip to Championship side Fulham.

Both the Saints and the Cottagers begin their quest in the competition at the second-round stage, the tie taking place at Craven Cottage in the week commencing 26 August.

Southampton won the last encounter between the two sides, a 2-0 Premier League win at St Mary's Stadium in February, but the reverse fixture in West London in November 2018 saw the Saints fall to a 3-2 defeat (11v11).

Last season, Southampton beat south coast rivals Brighton & Hove Albion 1-0 at the same stage, before a penalty shootout success against Everton at Goodison Park, and in the round of 16 they bowed out on penalties following a goalless draw at Leicester City.

Here is what some of the St Mary's faithful said on social media regarding the draw:

Up next for Southampton is a Premier League trip to Liverpool on Saturday, while the following week sees them take on Brighton at the Amex Stadium, then comes the Carabao Cup tie away at Fulham.
