Phil Neville says he is impressed with the infrastructure Leeds have in place.

Phil Neville has praised the infrastructure Leeds United have put in place at the club to set up their promotion charge.

Neville was asked about Leeds ahead of last night’s Carabao Cup game against Salford City, which the Whites won 3-0.

Quizzed on Sky Sports whether he was surprised Leeds had spent 15 years outside the top flight, Neville responded by praising their 2019 set up, led by manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Neville said: “Under the current regime and unbelievable manager, they are starting to build foundations.”

Bielsa has a world renowned reputation, and he is somebody an aspiring manager like Phil Neville rightly looks up to.

The former Argentina and Chile boss led Leeds to third in the Championship last season and this year hopes to go at least one better.

Last night’s Carabao Cup result was impressive but ultimately irrelevant towards their main objective, of getting back to where the Whites feel they belong.

With Bielsa at the helm, Leeds continue to stand a great chance of going up.
