Celtic’s Champions League hopes were dashed on a dramatic night at Parkhead.

Plenty of Celtic fans are understandably struggling to take any positives from Neil Lennon’s side’s defeat on Tuesday night – but for some, the performance of Ryan Christie was worthy of praise as the Hoops’ Champions League group-stage hopes were dashed.
The Scottish Premiership champions appeared to be in a good position to secure a spot in the play-off round as they twice led during the second-leg of their tie with Cluj. But it was not to be.
The Romanian side went on to win 4-3 on the night and 5-4 on aggregate to leave Celtic looking to force their way into the Europa League group-stages. It was a performance littered with defensive mistakes, and Lennon may fear that it may prove to be a defining result during his second tenure.

The 24-year-old produced another strong display, and went on to bag his eighth goal of the campaign after a brilliant piece of play involving Odsonne Edouard – who also stepped up when Celtic needed him during the second-half.
And a number of the supporters have taken to Twitter to suggest that Christie was one of the players who did not deserve to be on the losing side on Tuesday, with many lauding his performance and hinting that they now fear him leaving the club at some stage in the future.

Here is how some of the Celtic fans reacted to Christie’s performance…
