Tottenham could still end up re-signing Fernando Llorente.
Tottenham Hotspur travel to Manchester City this weekend, the scene of one of their most memorable results last season.
Even while losing 4-3 on the night, it was enough to see them reach the Champions League semi-finals.
One of the heroes that evening was Fernando Llorente, who scored Tottenham's decisive third goal.
It is very possible that returning to The Etihad causes Tottenham to reconsider the alternative option which Llorente provides.
Spurs released Llortente at the end of his contract in June. To this day he remains without a club.
The Telegraph reported last month that Tottenham were considering bringing him back, providing the Spaniard drop his wage demands.
The fact Llorente remains a free agent indicates he has not yet found what he is looking for.
Tottenham have Troy Parrott as back up for Harry Kane. He's an exciting option who shone in pre-season.
But for the opening game of the season he was not even on the bench, and he may not be against City.
In this scenario, surely Tottenham would be better off having Llorente available?
This weekend might just provide a stark reminder of that need.
