Tanguy Ndombele’s impressive debut for Tottenham Hotspur suggests he could well be the signing of the season in the Premier League.

Ndombele showed exactly why Tottenham broke their club record transfer fee to bring him in from Lyon in his first competitive appearance for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, as his performance showed so much promise.

Ndombele’s goal was the peak moment in his display, as Spurs picked up a 3-1 win over Aston Villa, but his overall performance was hugely encouraging.

The Frenchman already looks so difficult to dispossess, as his shimmies and body feints on the ball constantly keep opponent markers guessing.

Ndombele’s passing range was also impressive, as he continuously drove Tottenham forward in the match.

Of course, the display wasn’t perfect - but he still had a huge impact considering it was his first game in Tottenham colours.

And if Pochettino’s words about Ndombele are correct after the game then the rest of the Premier League need to be fearful.

"It was a fantastic performance. But to be honest there is a lot to improve, he only showed 30 or 40 per cent of his potential. He has amazing potential to improve,” Pochettino said to the Irish Independent.

If Ndombele genuinely has the capacity to improve by another 70 per cent, then he may well become the best central midfielder in the Premier League.

There is already so much to admire about Ndombele’s game, that Tottenham’s money looks very well spent.

And if the new Spurs boy really does fulfil the vast potential that Pochettino thinks he has then Tottenham will be a huge threat to every side in England.
