Miguel Almiron needs to end his goal drought sooner rather than later at Newcastle United, after drawing another blank against Arsenal.
Almiron has been utilised in a central striking position since Steve Bruce arrived at Newcastle, but his goal return remains a real concern.
The £21 million signing (Guardian) has shown glimpses of huge quality during his 11 appearances for Newcastle so far, but he still has not found the back of the net.
Considering Almiron is playing a secondary striking role now, this simply cannot go on for too much longer.
Ayoze Perez broke into double figures for goals last term when played as a deep-lying forward, and if Almiron cannot find a way to match that tally, Newcastle could risk looking very blunt up-front.
Joelinton is completely unproven in English football, so Almiron needs to take some of the goalscoring burden off him.
The Paraguayan could well be Newcastle’s brightest attacking hope, given his dribbling ability, and his effort cannot be questioned.
However, Almiron simply cannot let his goal drought continue for much longer, as his drought is starting to become a real worry for Newcastle now.
