Leeds United avoided an upset away at League Two Salford.

Leeds United made sure there was no upset in the Carabao Cup against Salford City.

The Whites were simply too good for the League Two side, winning easily after racing into a 3-0 lead just after the hour.

Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips was Sky’s man-of-the-match.

He told the channel after the game: “I thought we did well. With the fitness I thought we were better than them and it showed towards the end.”

Debutant Eddie Nketiah scored Leeds’ opening goal in the first half.

Gaetano Berardi was the less likely scorer of the second after the break, latching onto a corner kick from Helder Costa, who was making his first start.

Minutes later Mateusz Klich scored a superbly taken third goal, curling the ball into the net.

Leeds’ next game is away against Wigan Athletic in the Championship this weekend.
