Everton announced the permanent exit of forward Henry Onyekuru to Monaco on Monday.

Although the fee is officially undisclosed, The Daily Mail report that the Toffees have received £12m for his services, despite never pulling on an Everton shirt in competitive action.

Signed in 2017 from Belgian outfit Eupen, Onyekuru was loaned out to Anderlecht and then Galatasaray, with The Liverpool Echo reporting he struggled to obtain a work permit to play in the Premier League.

The winger showed good form out on loan, scoring ten goals for the Belgians and 16 for the Turkish giants (Transfermarkt).

Ultimately little damage has been done to the Goodison Park side but there may be a tinge of regret they couldn't quite figure out the technicalities of his move. There's every chance he could have made a significant impact in the first-team.

He's showing some potential worthy of attention and could well end up a much more expensive striker in the future.

Nonetheless, a reported £5m profit isn't the worst outcome (The Sun).

Also, with exciting talents such as Moise Kean to focus on in the new season, Everton have plenty to look forward to on the pitch.

His exit has provoked a response from supporters, with some feeling like he should never have been signed in the first place and others lamenting the fact he couldn't get a work permit.
