Kent shone while on loan to Rangers last season and was a confirmed summer target for the Ibrox boss, Steven Gerrard.

Some Rangers fans have taken Ryan Kent’s latest Instagram post as a sign that the former Ibrox loanee wants out of his current club.

Kent shone for Rangers last season and was a confirmed target for Steven Gerrard’s side this summer.

Gerrard, though, admitted that Rangers cannot afford to pay Liverpool’s asking price for the winger, who was back in the Premier League side’s Under-23s at the weekend.

With the transfer window for clubs in England’s top two divisions now closed, Kent’s only hope of escaping Anfield is a move to a club from outside of his home country – unless he wants to drop down to the lower leagues.

And this is what’s being said by those of a Rangers persuasion on Twitter, following the player’s update…

Rangers have until 2 September to add to their squad, which has already seen nine new players arrive since the end of last season.

Of those, more than half – Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie, Greg Stewart, Sheyi Ojo and Brandon Barker – play in positions similar to the ones Kent likes to occupy.

And whether or not Rangers remain interested in the Liverpool academy product remains to be seen now.
